Mohali Police commited for public security with 200 extra police personnel and 30 PCR : SSP Deepak Pareek
Mohali: To enhance security in Mohali, the police force has been augmented with the addition of 200 extra police personnel and 30 PCR vehicles, following the directives of DGP Gaurav Yadav. This enhancement will improve police presence and surveillance capabilities in the area, resulting in more robust security measures. Presently, Mohali has a sanctioned post of 2,600 police personnel, but only 1,600 are on law and order duty. According to DIG Nilambri Jagdale, the vehicular fleet and police personnel are being increased to maintain control over disruptive elements. Under this new protocol of Mohali police, arrangements are being made to establish regular checkpoints on the city’s internal roads, analogous to Chandigarh.
Mohali SSP Deepak Pareek said, “Sanctioned strength of constables has been increased by 200 by DGP Punjab. These will be filled as fresh recruits arrive in the districts later. PCR’s strength has been doubled from earlier 25 to 55.” The SSP said that with an additional 200 personnel, overburdened officials will now get some respite. “This will help in addressing pending cases as well as keeping more vigil on streets of Mohali, making it safer for residents,” he added.
Currently, Mohali police have 360-degree four-way CCTV security systems mounted on 18 PCRs.The PCRs are equipped with recording capabilities to document surrounding activities during patrol. “Each PCR features a LED monitor screen partitioned into four sections displaying footage, and a DVR for recording. PCRs patrolling the streets automatically document occurrences in their vicinity. Four cameras are mounted atop each PCR on the roof, capturing all four directions simultaneously. The 360-degree four-way mounted CCTV security system costs Rs 45,000 to Rs 48,000 per vehicle. The system has been integrated into the existing PCR fleet rather than introducing new vehicles with this capability,” said a
