IPS Ms. Anjum Ara has been apointed as DIG Shimla Range. Mrs. Anjum Ara, a 2011-batch #IPS officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre, has been appointed as the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Shimla (Southern Range), Himachal Pradesh Police. Previously awaiting a posting, she now takes charge of this key role in maintaining law and order in the region.

lady IPS officer of the country. She was encouraged by her father when she told him after completing her education that she wants to become a police officer. Her hard work and determination ensured her selection as an IPS officer in 2011. Now she is posted in Shimla as SSP. Earlier, Mumbai’s Sara Rizvi had entered this top police service in 2008.
Anjum belongs to Kamharia, a small village in Azamgarh. Her father Ayub Shaikh is a government employee while mother is a home-maker. Anjum received her secondary education at Saharanpur’s Arya Kanya Inter-college and her higher secondary education at HR Inter College in first division. Then she took B.Tech from an engineering college in Lucknow before passing the IPS exam in 2011. She was selected for Manipur cadre. After working there for some time she was posted As SSP of Shimla, capital of Himachal Pradesh where she lives with her husband and children. She says that parents should encourage their children to excel in education. Her husband, Yunus, is an IAS officer who is appointed as addl. deputy commissioner in Shimla. He is the same IAS officer whom mining mafia in Slan’s Nalagarh had tried to run over with a tracator. It did not deter him from cleansing that area of illegal mining.
